A Zen koan asks, "What is your original Face?" Here, my response, is probably more complex than any Zen master would accept.
Masks, fluidity, coalescence, and the terrifying ecstatic moment before one's ego is completely released unto primordial awareness.
As this image evolved, novel elements ignited in my vision as a story began to take shape. I had no intent of presenting a puzzle with a clear solution, but rather searched for elements that would speak to each other, suggest, hide & conceal, electrify and neutralize. I see an enigma reflected in the stories of an ancient face, stories that could never end, but only dissolve into the unknowable emptiness.
The cyber-octopoid is some kind of karmic converter, crystallizing the fountains of causal emptiness into egos, hovering in a realm between manifestation and liberation. The droplets yearn for the ocean, yet are captured in samsara, coalescing into unstable energy knots.
The person at the top approaches the unknowable - the moment where he sees his original face reflected in the void. Does he take off his mask to see his true face, or put on the mask to marvel at his own illusion?
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
